Sporck Family Scholarship Excellence Fund

The UConn College of Engineering invites applications for the Sporck Family Scholarship Excellence Fund. This program offers a competitive fellowship to one graduate students in the College of Engineering.

Criteria for Student Selection

The selected student should satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be an incoming or continuing graduate student enrolled in the College of Engineering at UConn.
  • From those candidates that meet the criteria above, priority consideration will be given to female students. Recipients shall be selected by the University and School in a nondiscriminatory manner consistent with applicable federal and state laws which may include, without limitation, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The Foundation Board, after consultation with the University, may modify or disregard any selection criteria if determined to be contrary to law or then existing University or Foundation policy.
  • Priority consideration may also be given to graduate students who also completed their undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut in the College of Engineering.

Support Amount

The selected student for the scholarship will receive:

  • 50% stipend
  • The fellowship needs to be matched by 50% GAship or TAship

Duration of the Award

The Scholarship(s) may be renewed annually to the recipient(s) provided satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility for the Award

Applicants must be enrolled full-time (9-credits) in a Ph.D. program affiliated with the College of Engineering. Award recipients are not able to hold a concurrent academic year graduate assistantship.

Timeline for Applications

Applications will open immediately and close on June 30th. Selection will be made immediately after.

  • Students should provide: CV (Curriculum Vitae) – academic background, research, publications, experience
  • Suitability / Personal Statement – up to 500 words
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation from the academic advisor
