Graduate students may receive financial support for their studies from many different sources, and we encourage both prospective and current graduate students to explore all the different options to identify those that best suit their needs. We also recommend that all graduate students consult with their advisors and with faculty and staff in their graduate programs because they are the most likely to know about degree- or discipline-specific sources of support. In addition, graduate students should take advantage of the resources offered through the Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships both to identify possible sources of funding and to get advice on preparing successful applications. National Fellowships Incentive ProgramThe Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships (ONSF) is pleased to announce the continuation of UConn’s ambitious incentive program to build a stronger student and faculty culture around applying for prestigious, nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.

Under this program, all UConn faculty on all campuses (including UCHC) are eligible for up to $1,000 in professional development funds to recognize their work mentoring students through the process of developing proposals and submitting applications for eligible awards.  Additionally, full-time graduate students who apply for NFIP-eligible fellowships may apply for a $250 scholarship through this program.  In the program’s first five years, more than $450,000 in professional development funds and graduate student scholarships have been awarded.

Future Climate Venture Studio FellowshipThe Future Climate Venture Fellowship Program is designed to provide tangible experiences for students interested in learning about start-ups, marketing, commercialization, venture development, and research around climate change. Fellows will be assigned to a mentor or startup company and will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of subject matters directed at addressing climate change. Fellows will develop communication and marketing skills as well as have the opportunity to play a role in bringing technologies around climate change to market through supporting start-ups and early-stage companies. Fellows may also have the chance to help develop pitch decks with their respective company and will have the opportunity to attend internal and external educational and career development focused seminars. Fellows will be required to give an oral presentation at the conclusion of the program.

Paid Teaching Fellowship Abroad for STEM PhDsAre you a recent or soon-to-be PhD graduate? Would you like to spend up to six months making a difference by developing and teaching science curriculum abroad?
Science Corps offers fully paid internships to upcoming and recent PhD graduates (up to four years after graduation) to help build science capacity at one of our host locations – a town on the island of Bohol in the Philippines, a village up in the Indian Himalayas, in the beautiful port city of Tangier, Morocco, and in the bustling city of Dhaka, Bangladesh. We are also currently developing new site partnerships, and are open to a fellow working on site development.
Fellows travel to partner institutions to develop science curriculum, teach in classrooms, train teachers, and build community-based research projects. In addition to building science capacity at these host locations, we also aim to offer fellows a life-changing experience. Fellows are given the opportunity to spend time in beautiful locations, immerse themselves in different cultures, and learn from their host educators, all while making positive contributions to local communities.

NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities – Fall 2023 (NSTGRO23)This fellowship opportunity solicits proposals on behalf individuals pursuing or planning to pursue master’s or doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in relevant space technology disciplines at accredited U.S. universities.

NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Fellows will perform research at their respective campuses and at NASA Centers. Each recipient will be matched with a technically relevant and community-engaged NASA researcher who will serve as the research collaborator on the award. Through this collaboration, graduate students will be able to take advantage of broader and/or deeper space technology research opportunities directly related to their academic and career objectives, acquire a more detailed understanding of the potential end applications of their space technology efforts, and directly disseminate their research results within the NASA community.

Awards resulting from this competitive selection will be made in the form of grants to accredited U.S. universities with the faculty advisor as the Principal Investigator.

This solicitation covers only proposals for new awards; continuation of existing awards is handled separately.

Innovation Zone Makerspace FellowshipThe Innovation Zone Makerspace Fellowship provides programmatic, educational, and administrative support to the UConn Innovation Zone Makerspace in Werth Tower. The Innovation Zone is a creative makerspace that enables and supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and making by providing resources, technologies, and mentorship to UConn students, faculty and staff. This is a live-in fellowship, with the cost of rent and utilities for a furnished one-bedroom apartment located in Werth Tower for one academic year considered as compensation for 15 hours per week.
